Parkallen – Another Update!
Skip to Post's Main ContentOur Parkallen project has been progressing nicely! This beautiful, older home had problems with ice damming on the roof. Ice damming occurs when a ridge of ice forms at the edge of a roof. It prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the dam can leak into a home and cause damage to walls, ceilings, insulation, and other areas.
In order to rectify this problem, we did a roof build-over in order to create proper air flow through the soffits and up through the roof space. With proper insulation and better air flow, less conduction and convection of heat occurs through the roof sheathing. We also extended the roof line so that there are some overhangs, creating pleasing aesthetics and protection for the exterior walls as well.
