Rural Retreat

We first worked for these clients in January, 2005. We completed six different projects on this home, culminating in this gorgeous country exterior in August of 2017. Every time we worked for this couple, they were so thrilled with the results that they couldn’t get enough! They love the long, covered front porch and often sit there to relax and enjoy their beautiful surroundings.

The original exterior siding was vinyl; it was replaced with Canexel UltraPlank siding which is both durable and beautiful. To add some visual appeal, the roof lines were changed – we added the covered front porch with the interesting, rustic timber frame peaks.

We also changed the windows to make the four all symmetrical and added fieldstone details. Wood tone shake accents also add a rustic appeal and are virtually maintenance free.

The garage was also updated to match the home and provide beautiful curb appeal. It’s finished off with the absolutely gorgeous landscaping – created and implemented by the homeowners themselves (can you tell they are avid gardeners?) We think you’ll agree, this is one stunning transformation!

My wife and I would like to thank Cal and his team at Home Style Construction Ltd. for turning our house into the amazing home it is today.

We purchased our home in 1978. In 2000, we hired a contractor to build a covered deck onto the back of the house and improve the kitchen and dining room area. Although the contractor did the job we asked, there was little creativity in the work. They built what they thought we wanted – no more, no less. It was satisfactory.

In 2005, we decided we wanted to have a covered veranda added to the front of the house. The first contractor we called quoted us on a ‘lean-to’ style structure. Not very appealing! We happened to see a home in Sherwood Park that was being renovated – and they were building the exact veranda that we had envisioned… that’s when we were introduced to Cal at Home Style Construction.

Cal came out to our acreage and immediately grasped what it was that we wanted. He also suggested a few ways to upgrade the rest of our house. Within a week, Cal came back to us with estimates and drawings of the veranda that exceeded our dreams. Needless to say, we went ahead with the project!

Since then, Home Style has done three more, smaller projects with the same efficiency and creativity. In 2017 we decided to upgrade the complete exterior of our house and once again, we contacted Cal. We were introduced to the latest products available that would also ensure energy efficiency. It turned out perfectly!

I say that we got a brand new house and didn’t even have to pack up and move! Each of the five renovations that Home Style did were completed without a hitch and, on time. Cal’s team is polite, helpful, professional and they keep the job site clean at all times.

Cal is proud of his company and his team and he has every reason to be. We are very proud of our new home and the people that helped us to get it to this level.
